dont belittle yourselves by calling it pass architecture.

they are to very different disciplines.

i describe arch tech as technical architecture, while the other one is design architecture. this will become evident during your time studying.

How are you guys finding this course? Are you enjoying it? Just asking coz my daughter may be interested. Thanks!

Hey, yeah im finding the course great, really like it, everyone is friendly and helpful, however its quite hard/interesting with long hours and project after project, some projects are fun and you almost enjoy doing them (for me anyway) :pac: You need to be really focused and organised if your going to keep up with the pace, and not to mind getting up early everyday :D

    Cheers, thanks for that!

I agree with grodge, it's a different profession altogether. Don't talk yourself down by saying "pass architecture".
i know a lot of people end up there as they didn't get the architecture points, but to be honest thats due to people not know the difference when in 6th year.

    It's a great course.
similar to architecture in so far as it's focus is building based. But fundamentally different at the same time.
I'm a recent enough graduate and if you or your daugther (or anyone else) has any questions fee free to drop me a pm

    hey guys,
if you study architectural technology in DIT, tell me: why didnt you get to architecture course? Hadnt you passed suitability test or your leaving certificate wasnt enough good? I do 4 higher levels and I apply for archtecture in DIT. I have almost done my portfolio, which I think is pretty good... I am really worried about it:( I have also applied for Architextural Technology in DIT but on the 5th place on CAO list

    @ JRK92,

Im a recent graduate of this course, I did not apply for Architecture as I did not want to study it!

Architectural Technology is a different course, not a lower level of Architecture, if you want to be a smart arse and be-little this course fair enough.. I just want to ask you a quick question, Wht dont you apply to study architecture at UCD? Can you not get the points? Not smart enough???????

My advise to anyone applying for this course is be prepared to work your ar$e off!! Its a very demanding course!

    @ Petesy

There is some hardline drafting is the first year but not too much, not enough in my opinion. I think that the better you are at drafting with rulers etc.. then the better you will be at CAD. Drafting is a skill.

    Enjoy the course...!

You'll learn alot if you want to, and its great craic!

    Good luck!
