We have seen our dream house, newly built and everything we could ask for. The only thing is that it has no open fire. There is an outer wall for a chimney but we were wondering what cost it would be in install one.

    Thanks

Would suggest looking at a stove instead of a chimney. An open fire looks great but is 70-80% inefficient, and a good stove that might cost a bit more will be the inverse, about 70% efficient.

There are some stoves out there that have a really nice flame, and the difference between the aesthetics of a real fire and a good stove is less than most people think.

Sorry Ive no idea how much it might cost to install a chimney after a house is finished, probably up to 500 blocks (say 50 cent to buy, 1 euro to lay) plus chimney flashing, plus re-plastering the holes, plus making the holes, plus any structural issues (eg foundations?)

If it was me I'd put in a stove with a flue without batting an eyelid.

PM me if you are interested in a good stove with a nice dancing flame (No affiliation with any company but Ive seem a very nice stove lately but I dont want to be giving anyone free advertising!)

Make sure planning permission is not an issue before going ahead with anything.

    chimney+fireplace costs 10k

I've said it for years, scrap the damn things altogether, only now are people starting to come around to this

Apologies if this is a silly question but:

Is there a way to put a stove in a house without having to put in a chimney? How do you vent it? What are the associated costs/savings?

I am at raft stage of a newbuild at the moment.
