Embarrassing Problem

I'm looking for some personal advice and feedback, not medical advice.

I've recently found a small slit just above my anus. It used to be only sore when wiping after a number two and while showering but recently it's getting sore when sitting down. At first i didn't think much of it until i did a very brief google search and I'm 99% sure I've got the start of a Pilonidal cyst. It's apparently most common in men between 15 and 24.

I'm just wondering if any one else has suffered from this condition, and does it take long to heal?
Is this a reoccurring problem in people?

    Thanks

Sorry to say it, my friend. But book yourself an appointment to see your GP on Monday or Tuesday of next week asap.

You can google for the symptoms all you want, but you seriously need to be talking to a medical professional.

Also, i don't want to alarm you, but who knows if this problem/cyst could be cancerous? Seriously go to see your doctor as soon as you can.

    Good Luck.;)

There is a thread about peoples expierences of pilondial cysts here.

As you can see this happens to lots of people, it really isnt as embarrassing as you think.
The doctor sees this kind of things all the time.
You might be right about the diagnoses, but you could also be way off.
Regardless it is something that isn't going to go away, and it needs to be seen to.
    So go to the doc!

    Agreed^.

Also, it makes sense to go to the doctor earlier, before god forbid the problem gets any worse.

If you go early, they may not have to surgically remove anything. There could be other treatments available that the doctor could recommend/ give to you.

The doctor is your best bet. Moonbaby's link to another thread about this will give you some others take on this.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.
