replacement car keys - best deal

    One of my car keys recently fell apart and while I was able to recover most of the parts of it, I couldn't find the immobiliser chip. Rang the main VW dealer in west dublin and got quoted 180 euro to replace it. Decided to see if i could source the parts for a cheaper price. My local cobbler in maynooth was able to take a chip out of a new key he had and put it in my own key. Took a while to find a person who'd programme the chip but thanks to boards.ie, Damien at speedykey.ie got in touch with me and got me sorted. Total savings 70 euro. Must admit feeling pretty smug with myself beating those rip-off merchants at VW :)

    Sounds great, might just get me a second key for me car as it only came with one.
    Does the replacement key (if yea needed a whole key) look 100% like the original

    well just replaced the chip in my old key, it was a VW bora 03, but from what i've seen a replacement key would look the same
