    Hi there,

After my new investment in a DM800HD, I am thinking of getting rid of the current sky mini dish and going with a 90cm Triax dish with 3 LNB's, one pointing at each sat.

I am pretty confident in that I know what I need to order for this setup, but I really would kill myself up on my roof....

Anyone know of an installer around the Limerick / Clare / Tipp area that would do this install? Most I have been in contact with will not go near it unless its a standard install.

Pls PM me if you have any recommendations or advice
    Thanks v much

Well, while you await a PM recommendation, may I suggest you take a nosy at this thread of installers:

I'm after copying it across from main Satellite forum for convenience.

Dose it have to be on the roof?

yeah, unfortunately I need to do this stealthly. Get the new dish up on the roof without the other half noticing. No way would I get away with it in the back garden :o

Steveon is in contact with me so I am hoping to have a 88cm Triax installed soon

I'm starting out here on our setup but would really appreciated any recommendations on whats best.

I was looking at an 80cm dish and probably 4 LNB's with a 4*1 DiSEqC switch and a single receiver. Any suggestions on a receiver ? (lower budget than the dreambox).

Also, any suggestions on which 4 sat's would be the best options ? (any specific for premiership games ??).

    Thanks..

Just wanted to post a big thankyou to "Steveon", 88cm dish and mutli-lnb setup is working a treat. He even came back out for free yesterday when my dish moved slightly and I lost astra1.......so if you need a sat installer in the limerick area I would highly recommend Steven.

    Hi there

Just wondering if you were getting Astra 19 Astra 28 and Hotbird 13 all off a 90cm dish.

I always thought these were to far apart to recieve on a dish of that size.

You should be able to manage it on a 90cm.

I get those three off an 80cm dish no problem

Easy, I get a 24 degree spread from my 88cm Triax dish.

Pretty much anywhere I'd reckon with line-of-sight. I've set up 80cm's in Dublin and Donegal, no significant difference in signal quality. Both centred on 19E.

Ok. when I had asked that question in the past - I was given the advise to go with 90cm dish.. But if 80 works in heavy rain as well - cool.

It depends on what you mean by heavy. I've seen mine go out temporarily in extremely heavy rain, the type of rain when it gets really dark, and buckets down for 5 or 10 minutes and the sun comes out straight afterwards. The type of rain we would see maybe once a month at most.

Rain like today in Dublin, our typical rainy day, not a bother with an 80cm dish, with properly aligned LNBs. 28E is furthest from optimal in a 28/19/13 setup, so you need to tweek to get the best out of the weakest transponders. Ones that would be weak would be Film24, Zone Horror, basically the Eurobird 1 channels; Astras are much stronger, I've found.

10cm doesn't sound like a lot of difference, but in terms of being unwieldy, and having to put up on your own, there is a difference. You also gain much more in signal, I don't know exactly, but going by this picture, it may be as much as 20-25%, and might make a difference in some cases.

In terms of the extra size, and what I want to achieve, I don't think the extra 10cm is worth it.
