Excuse the ould drawing skills :o

I have a samsung LE32R telly and the speakers ain't the best. I'd like to get some sort of system that I'd be able to listen to music by plugging in my MP3 player (non ipod) in the front and also be able to watch movies with a 5.1 system. Sometimes I plug in the laptop into the telly for youtube vids (great for parties :D) but the sound from the laptop speakers is fiarly crappy. My budget would be around 400 smackers.
I'm torn between getting a soundbar and have it under the telly or a 5.1 system.
Can any of you good folk recommend me a decent system. I've just laid a wooden floor and the skirts are off so I suppose now would be the ideal time to run wires if I was going down the 5.1 route. Thanks :)

Cant make head nor tail out of your diagram but if you have an awkward room with too many windows and doors then you could consider ceiling speakers - wired under the floor in the room above or rear floorstanders behind the sofa. If you do go for a soundbar, yamaha seem to be the best.
