Got up to Tallaght tonight and brought the D80 with an average lens. Dodgykeeper came over and brought me onto the pitch and gave me a lend of a spare 200mm f2.8 lens. Massive thanks to him for giving me opportunity to use it seeing as he didn't even know me. Great bloke and taught me a couple of things about the camera I was using.

Registered on pix.ie and uploaded a few, they're not great but there a start. I need to crop a few of them and work on getting use to improving the lighting and depth of field in shots. SoccerC has been a good source of info on another site.

All I need to do is go and get myself a proper lens now:pac:

Shots ain't that great but it's all part of the learning curve!

    Just a few comments.

Your images are quite dark. So, you can fix that by dropping your shutter speed a bit, increasing your ISO, and/or brighten the images a bit in PP.

I assume you were standing up. If you sit/kneel you will get a much better angle on the action, and a totally different view.

You can certainly crop those images down more. In the first, get rid of that photographer on the right. In the 2nd, crop out some of that space to the left. In the 3rd, the main character is too central, so crop down on either side.

Have fun. I've put some sports tips on my website, which you might enjoy looking over.

    Thanks for the critique!

I was standing up alright, didn't expect to be pitchside to be honest and I'm out with a knee injury at the moment so couldn't kneel for long periods of time. I'm going to shoot my own team today hopefully although it'll be with a poorer lens. Need to get a cheap photoshop type program and crop a bit alright.

Checked your website, some nice tips there. Thanks for the link.
