Ryanair will not be around in a decade anyway and I would gladly give Aer Lingus €50 a bag before I would give anything to that scumbag and the corrupt ethos of his company. There is a thing called customer service and you pay for something and get a service in return, not having to pay for every flippin minute detail. I reckon a large portion of a European tourists must at this stage be suffering from very bad BO because of these idiotic polices. 99c flight = €125 please. I have had the displeasure of flying them twice in my life and I glad pay more to fly with Aer Lingus, Lufthansa and British Airways instead of O'Leary and his parasites.

Thoughrly agree, I go out of my way not to fly with them. But others are following their lead which is dissapointing

    Corrupt?

After Hours is where you're looking for with stuff like that. Try stick to the point and leave the rants for elsewhere.

BTW, a 50% increase is not double, OP. It's an increase of half, so if it was a tenner, it will now be 15.

    Edited: :)

According to the Irish Times it could be as high as a 250% increase for a second bag checked in at airport.

When I heard this yesterday morning I thought

"That the final nail in the coffin for me"

Unless Im flying on business and do not need some clothes then I will use them but people were saying to me about my 2010 holiday to France. "Sure fly with Ryanair to Beavauis or Biarritz and bring a bag". Fat chance of me doing that now. Im would be happy to pay the €1200 return on the ferry and squeeze the life out of my boot than pay Mr O'Leary any more money for my baggage.

If he is just a bus in the sky then why is he charging for baggage? My own local bus does not charge for baggage so its hardly a fair comparison anymore.

why blame just o'leary, they are all at it, don't think for one second AI won't copy ryanair, at least ryanair allow you to bring onboard more than 5kg  you could have booked ryanair to biarritz two days ago for €0.02 return, wow add 15euro for luggage and you are being robbed blind

Are Ryanair not one of the most succesful airlines in the world?

I think this might be wishful thinking on your part.

In fact I would be booking this holiday for 2010 in Late June and the prices then will be sky high. (Nice pun)

It would be as good as saying "Aer Lingus do cheap flights to Faro". They do but not in peak season, likewise you cannot get a cheap fare to Paris around the Heineken Cup Final because I tried.

i got flights to norway last month (august, booked in march) pretty cheaply with ryanair €30 return

of course you won't get cheap flights to paris around that time, its supply and demand, you couldn't get a hotel room in dublin during the weekend u2 were playing croke park either unless you paid through the bloody nose

Who ever brought a second bag anyway? One bag a person since you only had 15kg max spread over all bags... You'd be paying with Aer Lingus too. In fact how you can bring a maximum of 30kg instead of 15kg over two bags. This is the usual sensationalist bull****. Sure as they say 70% of their pax only use hand luggage. The people who complain generally refuse to fly Ryanair anyway.

at least ryanair allow you to bring onboard more than 5kg

Get with the times, Aer Lingus now allow 10kg onboard, and also allow additional items such as handbags, cameras, duty-free shopping etc along with your hand luggage, unlike Ryanair.

Don't forget, Aer Lingus also have a 20kg checked baggage allowance (€12 one-way) versus 15kg over at Ryanair (€15 one-way from Oct).

Then again, don't let facts get in the way of your little rant
wow add 15euro for luggage and you are being robbed blind

Unless you intend travelling only one-way with the bag, it will cost you €30.

well i am sorry, last time i flew AI in europe was 31 december 2008 to berlin (not exactly the stone age ) it was like 5kg on board which was ridiculous

whats your point anyway?? AI already charge more for checked in baggage NOW and you can bet any money they will charge more than ryanair come december more than likely too, as for your other point i saw a woman bring 4 yes four plastic bags full of stuff onto a ryanair flight in torp last month, not one person said boo to her

checked in baggage is stupid either way BUT THEY ARE ALL AT IT, hilarious that people are blaming ryanair

    It's EI, not AI.

When you last flew Aer Lingus is irrelevant, I'm just stating their current policy.
    whats your point anyway

I'm simply stating the facts, something that your post was missing. When you start making comparisons, it's a good idea to get your facts straight first, rather than basing your argument on incorrect information.
and you can bet any money they will charge more than ryanair come december more than likely too,

I'm not a gambler, so no I wouldn't bet, but I agree it is likely that EI will increase their fees in light of Ryanair's announcement.
i saw a woman bring 4 yes four plastic bags full of stuff onto a ryanair flight in torp last month, not one person said boo to her

Well isn't she a lucky woman? Again, I'm just stating the airlines' policy. I understand that these policies are not always implemented.
BUT THEY ARE ALL AT IT

Have you ever flown any of the other Irish airlines, namely Aer Arann and CityJet?
hilarious that people are blaming ryanair

I'm not blaming anyone. Ryanair are a business and are entitled to charge whatever they want for baggage. I have little sympathy for people who come on here moaning about how much they have to pay for checked baggage, or how much hand luggage is permitted. I've no sympathy either for Patsy who had to pay a €50 excess baggage fee on Ryanair, or Mary who had to pay €40 at the airport because she forgot to print her boarding pass online. Everyone who purchases a Ryanair ticket agrees to the T&C's when booking, so it's entirely their own fault if they get caught out for not obeying the rules.

If you don't like it, take your business elsewhere. It's that simple. No one is being forced to fly Ryanair.

No great friend of Ryanair but I remember when AL had a monopoly and it costs hundreds to fly to London, strange how they could lower their prices once another Irish carrier started to do short haul flights.

These days of the internet, it's very easy to do a search on the various airlines and ferries to check the best price, fool you if you dont go for the cheapest.

    Wow!

Thread locked. Nothing original here. Same sort of stuff every time Ryanair announce increases in costs...
