St. Jude - Patron of hopeless cases (Catholic Responses Only Please)

    Hi all,

St. Jude is the patron saint of all hopeless cases, there is a special novena you can say to him for 9 days when you are in a desperate situation. One of the 'requests' of the novena is that you spread the faith / message of St. Jude - which I'm doing here.

The prayer is below and the message is that no matter how desperate the situation is (and mine is pretty bad), he will interceed for you with the lord. Ways of spreading the message could include passing the prayer along to a friend in need or possibly printing a copy or two and leaving them in a church.

    Thank you all ....

O most holy apostle, St. Jude, faithful servant and friend of Jesus, people honour and invoke you universally, as the patron of hopeless cases, of things almost despaired of. Pray for me, for I am so helpless and alone. Please help to bring me visible and speedy assistance. Come to my assistance in this great need that I may receive the consolation and help of heaven in all my necessities, tribulations, and sufferings, particularly (state your request) and that I may praise God with you always.

I promise, O blessed St. Jude, to be ever mindful of this great favour, to always honour you as my special and powerful patron, and to gratefully encourage devotion to you by publishing this request. Amen.

May the Sacred Heart of Jesus be Adored, Glorified, and Loved in all tabernacles until the end of time - Amen

May the most Sacred Heart of Jesus be praised and glorified now and forever – Amen

Blessed be the sacred heart of Jesus
Blessed be the immaculate heart of Mary
    Blessed by St. Jude Thaddeus

In this world, and for all eternity – Amen

Say for 9 days and spread the faith / message of St. Jude is some way. This prayer has been never known to fail....

Internetmail 09 is facing a difficult situation right now, and normally common decency would cause other posters to respect that and not use this thread to pick a fight.

Unfortunately common decency is not always common on this board, so I have designated this thread as 'Catholic Response Only' in order to limit responses to those that genuinely wish to help and support internetmail09.

If any Protestants use this thread as an excuse to argue about praying to saints, or if any atheists use it to pick a fight about the usefulness of prayer, then I will smite them with my moderator's banstick in a place that really hurts.

Good luck OP. There is a popular patron saint of expectant mothers, St Gerard Majella.

There are some prayers to St Gerard Majella here:
    http://www.praying4ababy.com/stgerard.html

There is a triduum to Gerard Majella in October each year in Athenry, where there are relics.

can an agnostic use it to make an argument about praying to saints?

It makes sense if you think about it - people in heaven praying for you. IF you ask people on the ground to pray for you why not people who can harass god on your behalf?

I was a little surprised by how few responses this thread got coz I thought it would be a handy place to publish requests, though maybe there aren't that many. Though, I'm not all that religious but I have found that prayer to be helpful for times when things looked especially bleak, I kind of took an attitude of "Well, at least it might make me feel better". But honestly it's never failed, and I had reason to lean on it a little earlier on in the year and things worked out. I thought I'd just put this here.

There is a Prayer Requests / Testimonies sticky at the top of the main page.
