I've got my Pashley insured with 123.ie but that's under house insurance. I'm nearly sure you have to have house insurance with them to get this.

It also covers you though if it gets stolen outside of the home (e.g. anywhere) and full replacement is guaranteed.

Most household policies will cover bikes, but the replacement values are generally quite low

Cycling Ireland has a scheme that insures bikes up to €7,500 (€10,000 if you have more than one)

It costs €100, and you also need to take out a cycling Ireland licence. It might seem a bit steep, but may be the best option if you have high value bikes (particularly if you have/need a licence anyway)

CI does cover theft but I think the conidtions are quite restictive, e.g. the bike has to be stolen from INSIDE a locked car minimum or a locked building. It also covers damage in races.

House insurance tends to be more comprehensive and covers bikes anywhere- I have claimed on that before myself althouigh only for a cheaper bike (£300 IIRC after I bent the fork through cycling into a misplaced wall.)

BOI do a very reasonable scheme covering house contents insurance with additional cover for items used and stored away from the home (i.e. a bike) for an annual fee of eur90, it is open to negotiation however and depending on other factor such as area, alarm etc. it may be cheaper/more expensive

I have my bikes covered with FBD. In my research, they seem to be the best.

Home Insurance may or may not cover your bike. Usually, there is a limit to how much they will cover unspecified - I know on my policy thats €1,000 (but this varies from co. to co...) my bike is worth more than this so I had to specify it on the policy & pay more to have it covered.

Now it's covered for theft both from my house & outside the house - however it's not covered while I'm training or racing and as far as I'm aware no household policy will cover for damage while training or racing. For that you need to get the cover mentioned above from cycling ireland - arranged through Hooper Dolan insurance brokers.

almost right it must also be out of sight ie covered
and it depends on the where the car is parked

i spent and hour finding out all the small details

its not worth it with all the fine print involved

If your bike is your pride and joy its likely that it is already being kept in the manner they describe.......
