I am thinking of picking up home ec and ag science as new subjects but am going to do the leaving again at home while doing a FETAC level 5 course. Got 470 this year, didnt kill myself, going for 555 next year.

How do you do the practical elements of home ec and ag science at home? Is it possible to do the courses in one year?

You can't do ag science on your own, you have to have a teacher to supervise and sign off on your project. That teacher must be an ag science teacher in a school. They grade your project. No way around it. Home economics has a project which I believe is cookery based. Projects are due in, in autumn. Not sure what the requirements are on signing off on that one.

Also you are doing a FETAC Level 5 course. That's a fulltime course. Where are you going to get the time to study for a repeat leaving cert year and do the course? No offence but as an ag science teacher and a FETAC tutor, I think it's madness. Would you not be better off just repeating the leaving cert in a repeat class, if you're going for high points, which you are by the sounds of it, the FETAC Level 5 Cert is probably not going to be of huge benefit to you if you are not going to use it to get into a third level course next year

This is a BAD idea. Not only will you be stressed but just think, orals, projects, lab books, practicals. Just repeat properly, are you going for some sort of health science ?
