From what I've seen, anywhere from 200 - 700 euro, depending on the salon.

Do plenty of shopping around and see what the best option is for you, before you settle!

the clip in ones in moore street are amazing. My sis got salon ones for hundreds- they do look amazing- on par with cheryl cole, but my friend uses the clip in ones from moore street and they look just as well. 50 for a bag.

    +1 for clip-ins! :D
They're about 40-80 depending on the brand and you can wash them and style them like your own hair as they're human hair. (Something which grosses my boyfriend out...)
For volumised curly ones you could try the Jessica Simpson xlip-in brand. I think you can get them in Hairspray in Dublin.

I got a half head ('cause my hair is quite fine) of human hair extensions glued in for five hundred euro. They lasted for five months and I had them taken out then 'cause they started looking tatty. They looked just like my real hair and I used to curl them with my ghd!

If you hair is thick, it will probably be more expensive but you can shop around and clip in's are much cheaper. I needed three packets of clip in's for my hair and each packet was twenty five euro. They don't feel as nice though and I think they look pretty unauthentic.

i got a half head of human hair extensions in a great place on dorset street for only 350euro. they gave me the shampoo and condition free, along with a special hairbrush and one free blowdry.
theyre also free to take out, and they're not ''glued'' in per say, they say its made of protein so it doesnt damage the hair.

they last 3-4 months with good care, ive had them in for nearly two months and they're all there and still perfect! i think it's almost better for your hair, cause i never straighten my hair anymore...

Where on Moore Street? Are they easy to use? Do they come with the clips? And do they have a good range of colours? How many are in the bag for €50? And how long do they last if you use them a lot? Sorry for all the questions lol Just interested in knowing more about them, tempted for a change but don't want to spend too much in case I don't like them so these sound ideal.

I heard hers are great alright but I'd be afraid I wouldn't get the right colour matched. In fact I'm certain I'd mess it up so I'd rather see them.

There's a concession in the Debenhams on Henry St that sells the Jessica Simpson ones so you could go try them there and then maybe get them cheaper online.

I would say, with those particular extensions, they work best if you have thick hair to cover up the top of the extensions. Otherwise you'll have to spend a while backcombing your hair when you use them.

I would love long hair but honestly couldn't bear someone else hair on my head. does it not freak you out as to where it comes from??

I know a girl in class got them done for 500.....

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 146 ✭✭pe-cze

hmm, i dunno, i mean i never thought about it... its not like they are just cut off off somebodys head and stuck into yours. they have to be prepared and all that... and then, they look like yours ;)

i suppose ur friend got them done in haidressers, thats why it was that much more expensive. i mean, i usually charge bout 200e and still make profit ;) And what method did they use?

Ive heard about these ones, what is the microring compared to the ones with bonds?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 146 ✭✭pe-cze

Well, microrings are easier to use and easier to 'lift' after about 3 months when the natural hairis after growing, where the bonding technique (usually with keratin) could be a bit messy. it all depends on what kind of hair you have. i only do the microrings coz i think its the best ;)

That's very cheap....do you use remy hair? where are you sourcing your hair from? Have you got a portfolio?

Can't wait to get mine done again soon!

You would be a complete fool to get hair extensions that cost only 100 euro. The hair alone, if you get good quality hair, costs 80-100 euro for Indian remy hair. European hair (the best quality) is even more expensive. Add to this the fact that a half head of extensions takes 2 hours to fit, i'm guessing this 100 euro person is a total cowboy.

I've heard of girls getting cheap extensions and the hair has turned out to be really poor quality, non cuticle correct (i.e. really bad condition, dry etc) hair, OR it's remy hair mixed with synthetic hair, and their extensions quickly turned into a birds nest because the poorer quality the hair the more likely it is to tangle and dry out.

There's nothing gross about the hair...remy hair is gathered from Indian temples where women go to shave their heads as part of some Hindu festival. The hair is deep cleaned and dyed before it's sold on, so it's totally non-gross :-)

Oh and if you're getting extensions, I highly recommend you buy a brush called 'tangle teaser'. You can get them on ebay, it's the best brush to have if you have extensions.

From indian womens heads. The shave their heads as a sacrifice to their gods in the hope that god will heal any illness in their family. I dunno it never sat right with me. Dont get me wrong, you dont know how much I would LOVE long hair but if I was sacrificing a part of me I would hate to see it being used for the cosmetic desires of someone else especially in the western world. Just my opinion, ye are entitled to yours too:-D

Anyone been to "Hairspray" in Dublin? Saw another one just opened in Dundrum - Had a look at their site which has all the prices

Might go for clip in ones - they're €70 I think

I'm totally clueless about what's good and what's not though!!!

In case anyone is looking for a cheap set to try it out before forking out, get yourselves down to Dunnes Stores, picked up 2 packs of clip in hair extensions and they look pretty good too imo, only 15 each and there are a few different colours.
They sit all the way around your crown and just clip into your hair, they are pretty thin tho so if like me your hair is just nearly shoulder length you may need two sets to bulk it up :)

Yeah I can see why some people might find it gross.
But it's the temples who sell the hair - I wonder do the women themselves know that their hair is sold on?

I watched this back in August and really wished they would air it again. http://www.rte.ie/tv/programmes/hair_of_the_gods.html

Got to see everything from the salon in dublin to the hometown of the women who travelled hundreds of miles to the temple to sacrifice their hair, and then followed the guy who sold it to the stockists in Ireland.

The women in the documentary who were getting their hair done came across as ignorant to the whole process which was so sad when you saw things in india :(

Do you really think that getting a couple of rupees for their hair every few years would help these people have a better life?

Of course not, but you've missed my point; they didn't know. Their hair was a sacrifice. No money involved just the hope that in exchange their gods would bring healing to their children or whoever.

Anyways, off topic a bit, maybe we ought to have a new thread!

I use european remy hair and i get them on polish website where i pay 4zlote (which is 1 euro) for a single 'piece' of hair. So its cheaper that way ;)
    I dont have portfolio ;)

    If I wanted a wig, it's not exactly a need. :P

What's your stance on a merkin?

My stance is that it's not entirely relevant to hair extensions for the head. :)

Back to head hair methinks. :)
