Soundman, you saw at the Drive-in? :( *jealous*

Saw them at Oxegen this year - savage! :)

If they make it on to the stage they'll be awesome :pac:

Molberts: I actually worked with them when they played the Music Centre many years ago before the split.

So looking forward to this show. What do you mean though when you say if they make it on to the stage? Something I don't know?

So are you heading along too?

    Hi Guys,

I bought 2 standing tickets to see The Mars Volta the day they went on sale. The tickets arrived, and on my order details, it tells me which row and seat number, even though it also says "Standing". Two other friends have just told me that they'd love to go to, so I was wondering what the standing/seating arrangement is on the ground floor in the Olympia. If my friends buy two tickets, and will probably get row and seat numbers too, will we be obliged to stay in those assigned places? I had assumed that Ground Floor Standing would be open floor, and that there wouldn't be any assigned "standing areas".

Does anyone know what the story is? I've only ever been to the Olympia at seated gigs.

    Cheers in advance,
    Aspiration

It's just normal standing, not any assigned places. Try to arrive in time to get into the pit, so at least you have a barrier to lean against.

Sometimes even though a ticket may be general admission or standing, it will still have a number or numbers on it as if there was a row and seat for the ticket.

hmm quick question, please revitalise this thread!:

i've been lead to believe theres no support, also that TMV won't be on stage till nine (though ticket says 8)..
can anyone back up/correct my assumptions??

otherwise can't wait!! my excitement has been escalating ever since they put the posters up in my village :D

Any time I've seen Mars Volta, they never had a support act. They usually come on and play for 2 hours and walk off.

Looking forward to this. Other times I've seen Mars Volta they were great. Do they still play the Ennio Morricone thing as they walk on?

    No ticket advertising allowed guys.

If you have tickets available, advertise them elsewhere or place a post up on Toutless.

The drummer was Dave Elitch. I wasn't expecting a new drummer! And although he was decent enough at doing the mars volta job their jamming capabilities weren't that great. Hence the short show at 1hour 50mins i think. I saw them in Paris a year or two ago and they were phenominal. At least Cedrics vocals were there or there abouts good, nothing would suck more if he was off tonight.

Who were the Green Day fools with the "can we jam" poster?!

On wiki : "Towards the end of the Octahedron tour, Thomas Pridgen left the band. No official statement has been given by the band. Rumors about his departure from the band range from an argument he had with Cedric to financial concerns. Weeks later, it appeared on Pridgen's facebook page that he was "no longer in TMV." On November 29, 2009, the band performed a show in Oslo, Norway with drummer Dave Elitch. No official statement has been made if he is a member of the band, or is still in an audition phase. The band is scheduled to play throughout Europe and Australia until the end of January, 2010."

Anyone got any other information? Not that i trust wiki but it's the only info i've got so far.

I heard about the new drummer before going, so wasn't too surprised. I thought he was pretty good.

Seating in the circle made the sound a bit muffled, which was disappointing after the amazing Oxegen gig.

I was surprised at the amount of Deloused stuff, pretty much the whole album. Great start with Son Et Lumiere

The drummer was great, and 1hr 50 minutes is fine for a gig, nothing worse than an over bloated set...short and sweet. Good gig. Anyone know what he said when he was speaking to the crowd? Something about camera's or what?

there were two guys in the crowd holding up signs sayin "can we jam" - dont think he could see what they said. He basically just said if you've paid to see us then you know what we're about so you can put your signs down, we dont do requests, we're not Oasis.

so they put the signs down...

Saw those idiots. Did they think they were at a WWF event?

Hahaha that was me and my friend Aarif. Huge Volta fans both of us, and we wanted nothin more than a chance to have a jam with our favourite band, thought they woulda been cool enough to dig the idea. No biggie, amazing gig. Guess yer all a bit too stuck up for somethin like that eh?

And "Green Day Fools"...aye aye aye...

Nah i take it back, the guys got a point. I wanna jam with the RTE symphony orchestra sometime. I'll bring a sign and give it a crack.
