Ryanair Hand Luggage - Dimensions?

    Hi,

Flying with Ryanair for the first time to London next week.

Not checking in any bags, just bringing hand luggage. I'm wondering how strict they are about enforcing the 50x40x20cm dimensions they have listed on their website?

How do they actually check the bag itself? Is it a measuring tape? A scales?

Was going to bring something like this:

It is a little over their ruled width and height... but it could be flattened down to fit into the regulations... Would this be OK?

It would also be totally empty heading over, and maybe only half-full at most heading back!

I reckon you will be fine, you'll might only have problems if it was full and completely bulked out, but you said it won't be.

With Ryanair, it's all a matter of luck. Sometimes they will turn a blind eye to a bag even bigger than that and sometimes they scrutinise everything. It depends on the staff on the day.

They check your bag with this lovely money grabbing contraption, the bag must fit in the box below or they are entitled to ask you to check it in.
