Used up Dole holiday payments

    Hi there,

I have used up my 2 weeks with the Dole this year but need to take 2 other weeks off.

Is it easy to just sign off and sign back on 2 weeks later (do they look at you suspiciously??) or is it better to tell them you want 2 weeks unpaid on the Dole?

Also, do they pay you double just before Christmas so the week after Christmas you don't have to go into the post office?

    Thanks

You'll find it very difficult to convince them you need another 2 weeks off. Do you have a very good reason for this?

Signing off and signing back on 2 weeks later is pretty much a non-starter. For one thing, you will have to wait until your new claim is processed, which undoubtedly would take weeks.

Regarding Christmas payments, they pay you a double week the first week of December. The week before Christmas you get a double week with the following week being payment-free. You have to be collecting your payment for at least a year to be entitled to a Christmas bonus. But, according to the Citizen Information website, there are to be no Christmas bonuses this year.

This is how I understand it, although things may have changed.

As I understand it, they'll give you the time off but they won't pay you for it - kind of like unpaid leave from work after you've used up your holiday entitlements.

MelonieHead is right about the Christmas Bonus, this was done away with in the last budget.

You need to go to your local office about the extra holidays, you can go but just tell them before hand and when you get back, but you won't get paid for them.

They didn't care about me taking more than the two weeks off earlier in the year. I got paid for two of them when I got back, the rest of them I didn't. There is no need to sign on again to create a new claim on your return, just go back to the office and tell them you are back and then carry on exactly the same as before.

    Hi,

I'm new to this and was just wondering if anyone knows about holiday pay while on the dole? I was recently put on a three day week and my application is currently being processed but I am going on holidays in a few weeks. What do I need to do? Does my employer just have to sign the page as usual?

just tell the dole the week before you go,you will still get your payment, the might ask you to call in when you come back just to sign to say your back
