Hey everyone, my name is Rory and I'm new to these boards (and can't believe I've found somewhere to discuss cycling!).Will many of you be doing the Rebel Tour on Sunday week? After the SK tour last Sunday, I'm quite hyped up about it, although even though I'm from Cork I can't say I'm familiar with the area. Can any locals shed some light on the climbs involved in the 130k, or even the "Mount" Hillary in the 60k? I'm not sure which I'll choose, I'm slightly put off as there's no middle ground 100k as there was last Sunday. Is this event likely to be hard going in relation to the Sean Kelly 100k?Thanks a a lot, Rory

Not sure if it helps but From Here -> http://www.cclsp.com/viewnews.php?id=110
    Route Information

    ·10km Family Fun Cycle

This route is all about family participation and fun. The cyclists will start at 12 noon from the Mallow GAA Sports Complex in Carrigoon and head into Mallow town via the N72 road from Fermoy. The route enters Mallow at the Clock Tower roundabout and loops around the town before finishing back at the Mallow GAA Sports Complex.

    ·60km Mount Hillary Circuit

This route passes around Mount Hillary, the most northerly summit in the Boggeragh Mountains range. The route starts at Mallow GAA Sports Complex, continues out the N22 Mallow to Killarney road, before turning left for Banteer, where there will be a food and drinks stop. The cyclists will then continue towards Nadd village before turning left over a bridge before Nadd, passing Gortroe, into Glantane, then Mallow and back to the Mallow GAA Sports Complex.

·130km Mushera & Nadd Mountains Challenge

The 130km route takes in the scenery of the Boggerah Mountains passing along historic trails such as the old Butter Road and Aghinagh Way with some challenging climbs past Mushera Mountain as well as on the way to Nadd village. The route starts at Mallow GAA Sports Complex, continues out the N22 Mallow to Killarney road, turning left for Millstreet, and left again on the outskirts of the town (Rylane Road) commencing the climb towards Mushera. This is part of the Butter Road which dates back before the 18th century when it was the main trade route between Kerry and Cork. After coming down from Mushera the route turns right along the Aghinagh Way, and continues to Ballinagree, Macroom, and Carrigadrohid where there will be a food and drinks stop. The cyclists then continue on through Coachford, then on towards Crean`s Cross turning left onto the R579 heading for Nadd. Beyond Nadd village the route joins up with the 60km route by turning right over a bridge, then passing Gortroe, into Glantane, then Mallow and back to the Mallow GAA Sports Complex.

If you did the 100 in the SK i would think you will be fine for the 130 just do it at a sensible pace and eat plenty. Not from the area but have been there a couple of times and would think it's more rolling countryside with a couple of climbs. If you have some spare time you can plot it on map my ride and see what the elevation is like.

I'll be at the Banna Tag Rugby thing on the Saturday, but I really would like to do this.
Is there anyone on here thats not so fit, but wants to do the 130km?
All my cycling mates will be in France going up hills.

Also, is it the same organisers as the SK? I was well impressed.

All the events are run in conjunction with the County Sports Partnerships and local clubs but the template seems to have been the SK. If Sligo and The Burren are anything to go by organisation should be great.

Thanks for the tips guys, hopefully a bit of discussion on the event will get going in here.

Was the organisation in the SK tour exceptional, or is it common to all these An Post cycles?
