Can someone explain the difference betwen Kontakt and Kore by IK Multimedia? They both seem to do the same thing?

I think you mean by Native Instruments. Not certain but I think Kontakt is a full on sampler while Kore uses some of the same synth engines as other NI products like Reaktor or Absynth as well as using samples. Again not certain because I only have the free players that NI released.

Sorry, I mean Native Instruments! Yeah I'm using the Kore Player now and am pretty pleased with what it can do.

Kore has a range of sounds taken from different software backs. Think of it as a best of.. Have it and love it along with the hardware controller.. Also a great piece of kit.. Check out the ni website for more info

Hi, have been reading up on it alright and a 'Best Of' is a great description! It seems its biggest advantage is stream-lining the selection of all NI-based sounds, though as someone with no VSTs the range of sounds that come pre-loaded has me somewhat spoiled for choice.

Still, if some preset is "wrong", and you cannot fix it using Kore knobs/switches alone, you're SOL (*ahem* Acoustic bass drum on Sky Kit *ahem*).

At least it's true wrt free versions - Kontakt Player gives more adjustment options than Kore Player. Of course, it only works with Kontakt sounds and not the remaining engines (Absynth etc.), so you still need Kore for the remaining ones.
