Abolish Switzerland!

Libya leader Col Moammar Khadafy to United Nations: Abolish Switzerland!

Libya's Col. Moammar Khadafy has a beef with Switzerland and plans to ask the United Nations to abolish the tiny Alpine home of milk chocolate, cuckoo clocks and yodeling.

According to Swiss minister Christa Markwalder, Khadafy will demand that Switzerland be wiped off the map when he comes to New York Sept. 23. He apparently wants the country to be dismembered and the land parceled out among neighbouring France, Germany and Italy.

The Libya-Swiss kerfuffle began a year ago, when Khadafy's youngest son, Hannibal Khadafy, and his pregnant wife were arrested in a Geneva luxury hotel for beating two servants with a belt and a coat-hanger.

Hannibal Khadafy had previously been busted in both France and Italy for beating a woman and fighting a cop, and once for driving drunk down Paris' Champs Elysee at 90 mph - the wrong way.

Libya retaliated with fury, recalling some diplomats, suspending visas for Swiss citizens, withdrawing funds from Swiss banks, shuttering the Tripoli office of Nestle and threatening to cut off oil deliveries to Switzerland.

Two Swiss businessmen were barred from leaving the country until Libya received an apology for Hannibal's arrest.

Two weeks ago, Swiss President Hans-Rudolf Merz sought to win their release after a year by traveling to Triploi to apologize for the arrest.

Libya promised to let the hostages go by Sept. 1 - but reneged. Now Merz is fending off calls for his resignation.

Hannibal - in 2005, he was convicted by a French court for striking his pregnant companion in a Paris hotel. He was given a four-month suspended prison sentence and a 500 euro fine.

He likes getting his belt off in hotels...

If they had any sense, they would have used the invisibility cloak function on their Swiss Army knives and sneaked out of Libya.

Qaddafi is an idiot. Cuckoo clocks come from the Black Forest region of Germany, not Switzerland. *snort*

But the Carthiginians controlled Libya and used there soldiers in Hannibals army.

The modern equivalent would probably a Tuninsian general leading a load of Libyan lads and a few elephants up to Switzerland. The Swiss will be quaking in their boots.:D

instead of a trojan horse the swiss could leave a giant cuckoo clock on a beach,as a peace offering, wait till the libyans go asleep, sneak out the guys who were hiding in the clock, rescue the two businessmen and sail back to switzerland.
    easy.

If their weapons can do that to cheese, imagine what they would do to a hot all-female elite guard?

    Except switzerland is land locked.

I've been to switzerland and i see no reason to oppose its abolition.

That's the stupidest thing I've heard in a long time, what an idiot.

Yeah he gets everything he could possibly desire in his own country so he decides he can just demand another country he's not happy with be dissolved?

He'll go down in the history books under W for wanker.

The joke was more of a reference to his son Hannibal because he has the same name as the famous commander of the Carthaginians. But it was a bad joke none the less:(

Never a truer statement spoken !

Gadaffi would be comical if he wasn't such a psychiotic lunatic.

The poor Swiss must be absolutely sh*tting bricks at the moment given this dire threat to their very survival.

So let's see - Geneva goes to France, Zurich goes to Germany and Basle is split between France and Germany. St. Moritz forms its own principality, charging Libyans and other plebs hefty fees to use their ski runs.

I didn't see Gadaffi calling for America's or the UK's abolition and he was pretty pissed off with these countries back in the 80s.

The mistake Switzerland made was, the Swiss police should not have arrested him. They should have shot him and the wife and place the gun in the servants hands and sent the the servants to court and release them in court under self defence or afterwards under ill health grounds.
Then a year or so later when things quieten down, silently wipe the court convictions of the servants records.

Isn't Switzerland heavily fortified and quite capable of warfare?

I think I read once all their bridges are set with explosives and their roads designed to double up as runways.

That depends on your point of view. They have no Navy except some patrol boats in any lakes bordering other nations.

They do have an air force to fly between mountains.

The structure of the Swiss militia system stipulates that the soldiers keep their own personal equipment, including all personal weapons, at home.

They do have bunkers for nuclear and other types of attacks to cover 114% of its citizens. Incase any births arise due to captivity

Not a bad idea to have here. (The Planes landing on the Roads , I mean) , Ryanair can drop me closer to my Destination instead of the middle of nowhere.
