Im thinking if you a TV online and want to get an extended warrantly like they offer in Harvey Normans, Currys etc. Most manufacturer's offer at least a year but say you wanted 5 years!

Is there a place that does this without having actually bought the tv there ?

Sony currently offer 5 Years parts and labour FREE!!
And you want to pay for a warranty.....
Besides the accidental damage cover is BS in a can. House insurance does that type of work!

Then your sort of stuck with buying on line and hoping they offer a "CARE" package.
If my memory works , they require an original purchase date from the store to process an extended claim.

Extended warranties of any kind are crap value for money. I bought a new car a few years back and before the manufacturer's 12 months warranty expired I had the option of buying an extended warranty to cover me for three years i.e. an additional two years. The extended warranty was only available via the garage from where I had purchased the car.

However when I asked the salesman who sold me the car about buying the extended warranty, he gave me a few home truths. First he said the garage would take a big profit margin on the warranty, then the actual warranty itself was actually nothing more than an insurance policy so the insurance company would take their slice of profit and what was left would reflect the true risk associated with extending my original warranty.

Bottom Line: There are too many snouts in the trough, keep your money in your pocket and take the risk.
