    Hi All,
Any help would be gratefully appreciated in relation to this.
I am looking for a photographer to take some traditional formal group/family shots after our ceremony in november. We have a fabulous family friend taking the rest of our photos in the reportage style but I'd like some formal ones too. It'd probably only take an hour as the photos will take place in the venue we are getting married in and our wedding is quite small too.
We are getting married in Mullingar. If anyone can recommend someoen or even advise me of roughly what something like this would cost, I'd love to hear from you.

    Thanks x

Can you not ask your friend to take a few quick formal shots? I'd be shocked if you were turned down. He/she doesn't have to include them in their portfolio, it could be your little secret ;) It only takes a few minutes for the "usual" group shots.

I shoot in a reportage style but I recognise that people will always want formals.

    .

Some people just dont have the confidence for formal shots and directing people. If you are not confident it is quite hard to get peoples attention.

You have to be confident though to be a wedding photographer do you not?

Of course, without a doubt, you need to ooze confidence, however the friend may not actually be a professional wedding photographer! Also think it this way, we both do different styles, if you were asked to shoot my style you may be out of your confront zone and if I was asked to shoot your style I may be out of my comfort zone, although we may both be able for it not everyone is happy to step out of their box!

This is true. I just think it would be a shame to have to get a second photographer for the sake of a few shots. They might get on okay with group shots taken by guests come to think of it, if they want to save on expense.

True but after seeing guests shots of weddings I shot also even when the formal shots are set up perfectly sometimes the results do not do it justice, blurred images from slow shutters or unsteady hands, or focus int he wrong area. If it is important to them to have these formal shots and their photographer was not comfortable I would say go for someone who is not going to charge a fortune and will charge approriately.

Maybe their photographer may change his mind, reviewing other photographer websites can be a great way to prepare yourself if you are out of comfort.
