Was looking out for a best deal on a car insurance the other day.
Im a provisional irish licence holder (1 year) with a car worth 5k.
FBD quoted me 3000 euros followed by Aviva 1700 euros.
Then came along Corn Market with whom i went along for just 920 euros.
I took the insurance in my wifes name (shes an INO member)
I am the named driver on the insurance.

Just wondering how much money Insurance companies make out of people who dont scout around for the best deal and go with what ever they are offered.

    some useful resources :

Its also illegal and against the terms of the policy if you are using the car full time.

A fair amount I would say. But there are hidden costs in cheaper prices, look at Quinn. Great for young drivers but from what I have seen absolutely horrible to deal with a large amount of the time if you do actually have a crash. I would rather pay that extra 50 quid then spend two or more years locked into a outrageous quote because I had a claim still open.....
