I have set up my Denon 1910, all is fine except I cant get the Sub to work (nubie alert!!) I have a sneaking suspicion that I now need to buy an active Subwoofer, the connection is called "pre amp out" I think.
    Any ideas??

By default the Denon 1910 is set up for floor standers or "large" satellite speakers. You need to change this setting to "small" and then it'll start using your sub!
Try that and let us know first!

what inputs does your passive have? does it have just the one set of speaker cable terminals or does it have front input & output speaker terminals?

yeah just the red and black input terminals on the rear. We just finished watching Casino Royale so I will have another go at it tomorrow.

OK, all speakers set to "SMALL" and the Sub is showing as "ON" but still no sound being sent to my passive sub. Any more ideas on this?

i talked to John in RS earlier and it seems i do need an active sub. He suggested work arounds but an active sub is the real solution.

john @ RS is correct - an active sub is the only way to go.

This is one of the biggest improvements you can make to your home cinema system. Its worth saving up for a while to get a quality subwoofer which will blend seamlessly with your speaker system and suit your room size.

have a look on AV forums for a LOT of info on the subject!
