Routes for a 20 mile run....

Myself and my OH are both training for the Dublin Marathon and our 20 miler is fast approaching. Being a girl I have suggested making a weekend of it - going away for the night..hotel etc.. Can anyone recommend somewhere nice for a weekend with nice places to run (with easy to follow paths as I tend to get lost very easily and myself and OH run at different speeds)..

To be honest, the last thing I would recommend for a 20 miler is doing it away from home.

Run the same routes you have used so far. Maybe do 2 loops of a 10-mile course you are familiar with, or extend your existing long route by the required amount.

    +1

Night away + OH + hotel = No running next day

hmm think you could be right.. will prob stick to my normal route and run it a few extra miles.. at least I know where to stash my water bottles etc. Will tap the OH to take me away some other weekend instead...

Maybe plan your pampering for after the 20 mile run. You might need it!
If both you and your partner are doing your first 20 mile run together, make sure that you don't have too much to do for the rest of the day. I hate shopping after a 20 mile run. all I want to do is lie-down in front of the TV and eat junk food and drink beer wholesome restorative food and natural organic smoothies.

    oh for sure Krusty...

I intend to do nothing after the 20 miler... it will be me, the sofa, the tv.. food galore and my OH.

    Food coma ahoy!
