This probably very obvious, but I am totally clueless about this.
I bought a new TV recently, mainly to be used as a monitor.
In fact, I haven't watched the TV on it until today. I haven't plugged it in to my UPC box, I just changed the input from the PC one to DTV.
Now, even though it's not plugged into anything, I am getting the sound (but no picture) for RTE2. Also, by pressing "guide" I can see program information like I can on my UPC box downstairs.
So I guess the TV has a build in Digital TV receiver, and RTE are broadcasting in digital. I don't suppose there is any way I can get a picture as well?

Your TV is only MPEG2 compatable (UK). It would be possible to pick up Irish DTT (MPEG4) with a set-top box, or, depending on the TV, with a decoding card. There are plenty of threads in this forum about it

Thanks for the explanation - I will do some research on that!
