I am taking T889 as my first module towards the Postgrad Cert in Tech Mgmt. I'm almost finished, just the end of course assignment to complete. I will be taking the mandatory module T840 in November.
It's my first experience with the OU and I haven't done any study in over 15 yrs but I'm enjoying it so far - just sorry I didn't do it years ago! I took T889 because I wanted to ease myself in by doing a project based course rather than having to face an end of course exam. The course is very good, the materials are excellent, and very relevant to real world problems. I'd recommend it, and now that I've started I will probably go on and at least do the postgrad diploma.

how many hours per week are required for these courses. I would like to know from someone who has actually worked on a similar course.
It is interesting to know that i don't have to start with the mandatory course first.

The recommendation is 8-10 hrs per week for a 30 point module as far as I can remember.

What takes up most of the time is completing the assignments, there were three of these to do. Also in my case the end of course assesment is project based so this is also taking up a lot of time. I did find that there were some parts of the course that I could skim through because I either had a decent knowledge of them already or they weren't relevant to the assesments or the project. I found that some weeks I was doing 4-5 hrs and others I was doing 15+, that suited me better than having to fit in 8-10 hrs every week.
