New home Sky setup advice

    Hi,

Just building a new house and am currently talking to electricians about running wires.

I want Sky HD in the main sitting room with multiroom for up to five other locations. An FTA box would also be nice to have. The consensus seems to be to run everything back to one hub, which I can do easily as it's a new build, but I'm unsure how this would work in practice, changing channels with magic eyes etc. I wouldn't need all channels in all rooms, especially as I'd have multiroom, I'd probably link sitting room with main bedroom, playroom with kids bedroom etc.

Not very technical, but would cat5 cables be the best way to distribute the best picture, I'm renting at the moment and the picture through a co-ax to the second room is poor.

I have a ONE great chance to do this properly - any advice welcome please from anyone who has done this or knows what the best way to set it up.

    Thanks.

you can use cat5e or cat6, there was a thread about it here some where. the adapters are quite expensive as i recall.

    will have a look tomorrow.

there was something over on avforums about it also.

Most of this is over my head I admit. Is that guy on avforums controlling a mediacentre pc with an old pda with some specialised software?
