Damage to trees

I am building a house in a woodland setting and now site clearance and groundworks are pretty much finished.

I have a problem: the machine drivers have broken branches off perfectly good trees(mainly semi mature beech) and I'm afraid that if the stumps are left untreated they may cause rot to infiltrate the healthy tree trunks.

What is the best way to deal with this? Can I cut back the branch stumps and treat them with something? Its a shame to lose 30 years growth through something like this.

Pics attached. Any help or guidance appreciated
