I'm in the depths of despair. Graduated from college a year ago and have been unemployed ever since. I have tried so hard to get a job but no luck. I am stuck back living at home and have fallen into a rut of sleeping in late and then sitting around all day doing nothing. I live in the country and have no friends where I live. I have no social life, no girlfriend and no money. I am 26 and thought that by now I would have a job and a life of my own. I dont know what to do...I feel completely hopeless and the economic outlook for the country does not fill me with hope of getting out of my situation anytime soon. I know there are probably lots of others in my boat but it does not make it any easier. Does anyone have any advice?

What kinds of jobs have you been looking for? Should always be something if you are willing to do menial jobs that are very unfulfilling, i get hassled from recruitment agencies all the time around here about crap jobs they want me to apply for.

Another obvious solution would be to leave the country but that will be difficult if you have no money.

Once you get a job though you happiness is likely to increase.

You just gotta keep looking. Jobs will not magically come to you, you have to go find them.

I understand it's difficult to do that with no motivation, so try and fill your days more - keep yourself occupied and busy, and you'll be more motivated. Set yourself a routine - up at 8/9am every day, job hunting for 2 hours, then maybe go for a jog or a walk, or do some form of exercise. You could do some charity work to pass your afternoons. None of these things will cost money but will get you out and about and give you more drive. I cannot stress enough the importance of keeping positive.

Hey OP. It is a rotten situation to be in. I empathise with you. It can be very hard to fill the days at times.
Assuming you are already spending some time each day looking for paid work, can you do some stuff around the house at home? If you're in the country, is it a farm? Can you look after the animals? Paint the house, clear out sheds? Tend the garden, paint fences, unblock gutters? If not a farm, most of the above can apply too. You'll feel better and score good brownie points with the folks too.
Other options might be to use the local library, most are brilliant these days. Can you use the experience/knowledge gained from your college course by either creating and doing a project of your own or using the skills gained in some voluntary capacity? Try to think of more stuff. You'll know what might work best for yourself.
These things may not initially sound like much but they could really pick you up from the low place you're in at the moment.
    Good luck job-hunting.

Do not be too sad, I am the same way. I have travelled to Ireland after great promise to find no work here! But you know the important thing to be happy is not to run around chasing yourself in circles, you must always think tomorrow is better perhaps than today and that you are not worth less. That is my advice to you any way.
