A net book would do you,The Dell studio 15 looks fairly decent but probably abit to much for marketing projects I assume they're just done in like Microsoft office?

A netbook would suffice, but they can get annoying because of the size of them if you're typing up projects on them. I'd say a Inspiron 15 would be fine.

Yeah that's true the main reason I'm getting rid of mine is cause the screen isn't big enough for the applications I use! They're very easy to type on though :)

Those stories depend entirely on what range you buy from. (And, of course, whether the person telling them is basing it on the one laptop they bought for a fiver, spilt coffee and beer on, and then discovered to no longer work, or whether it's based on using a range of them over a long period of time). If you go for the cheapest of the cheap Inspiron or Vostro series with associated crappy warranty that depends on the phases of the moon, you get what you pay for. Pony up a bit more for a Latitude range machine and you won't go wrong.

Now, in saying all of this - I'd strongly suggest talking to your college IT people to find out whether you can get a discount through them.

I've heard similar comments here (I work for a university in the UK) but under the university's Higher Education contract with the university itself there are various deals that members of the university can avail of. Might not be the case for all unis, but it's worth checking.
