    Good Afternnoon,

I wish to post a little excerpt of my experience with dv247.com (digital village)

On the 08/08/2009 of August i purchased a pair of Adam A7 nearfield active monitors and Samson MS200 Studio Monitor Stands. (Order number W154425)

At the time of order their site showed that they were in stock.

On the 14/08/09 i received an email that the monitors were in fact not in stock

    dv247 -

"Unfortunately the latest information that we have from our supplier is the Adam A7 Active Nearfield Monitor are now due to
arrive here 28/08/09 and Samson MS200 Studio Monitor Stands (Pair) are now due to arrive here 14/09/09.
    "

They were going to ship the items separately as i was really interested in the stands, just part of the bundle

I didn't really mind at this stage, at least i didn't have to go chasing them up, they were kind enough to inform me.
So i decided to wait until the expected date.

On the 28th of the august i rang up at around 2 pm in the day,
to see how they were getting on with my order.
I very nice woman informed with that the expected supplier day was now the 18th of september.

With this news i decided to cancel the order.

I really wanted these monitors and decided to contact the Adam supplier in the UK
(these guys are just up the road from dv247) to find out where i could get the product.

An extremely nice guy there informed me "that if your contacting me then there is a problem".
He took my order details and rang up Digital village about my order.
(i had already canceled the order, but he had words with them anyway.)

Yesterday, the 1 september, i received my money from Digital Village minus euro 52.16!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
( they tried to tell me this was due to the exchange rate)

At this stage i just laughed, went onto thomann and bought the monitors. They are in transit as we speak.

As for the 52.16 i expect to be chasing them up for another few days,
if i ever get my money back.

name of the game, if your in doubt about thomanns prices and see
it cheaper elsewhere, stop, think, pay the extra, get the service.

That's exactly what it was tbh. You never get parity when you convert to £ then back to €, two different exchange rates AFAIK.

Your story is one synonymous with any mail order company, Thomann are no different.

Thomann use the Euro too though, so there won't be any currency exchange irregularities when getting refunds in Euro.

a few phone calls later i've been refunded 50 euro

2.16 cent for exchange rate seems more like it.

    as for your thoughts

i appreciate this, but not to this extent

    699.99 GBP = 802.514 EUR

even if there was a dramatic change in currency in 2 weeks, this sort of drop

    750.35 EUR (refund) = 654.400 GBP

    699.99 -> 654.4 in 2 weeks, seems a bit of a stretch (6.96% ?)

if the gbp dropped that much the ireland, northern ireland border would have been flooded with people trying to get that cheap drink ;)

now that i would have heard about ;)

    enjoy your day,
thanks for your comments / opinions
