Folks, do golf shops take trade-in's on clubs or would they even buy them off you? I'm guessing no on both counts. I want to upgrade my irons and would love to get rid of the old and in with the new under the one roof.

In the current climate shops will offer you peanuts to be honest.

Second hand clubs are pretty worthless.

like all trade ins if they are a recognised brand name or are not too old may be worth something, but with the way manufacturers are bangin out new models things get older quicker now

the guys in the shop would know say 2-3yr old callaways or mizuno's or whatever top brands will have some value,
or they will always take a leftie set

but if they are over 5 yrs old, or some cheap set you got for €200-300 you'd be better off flogging them here on adverts if you can or giving them away to someone who might have the odd use for them

I got €100 off a new set of TM burner 09 irons (see other threads onsite here), and the old set I had were 'bangers', probably 10years old, good for nothing clubs. think that offer was just finishing when I got my irons.

worth ringing around pro shops as some of the brands offer deals at certain times.

Thanks for the advice lads. The set I'd be trading are in good nick and fairly new (Callaway Big Bertha irons) so i'd be hoping to get a good price for them.

out of curosity, what are you hoping to get for them?

I'll be looking for a new set of irons shortly, am currently using a cheapo starter set.
