    Hi again!

Okay so this time I need help on what price I should sell my 1996 VW Polo for parts? It has new tyres (I'm thinking that would make a difference?) and the timing belt went on it.

What would be a fair and realistic price to let it go at? Or should I just give it to a company to scrap it?

    Thanks for any help.

Well it had been running well but the Timing belt went on it last week. I don't know if that had a negative effect on the engine as a result? The mechanic who towed me off the road said that nine times out of ten if you put a new timing belt in, it's no use anyway.. (I had head gasket changed few months ago). He said the garage should have checked the timing belt when I was getting the new gasket.

I have it up on Adverts.ie for 300euro but looks like I'm asking too much at that?

Really and truly the garage should have changed the timing belt regardless. As they would have being taking off the timing belt to do the headgasket anyway and as a timing belt is maybe 30 to 40 euro and labour cost to change one will vary from gararge to garage and model to model but maybe 150 euro I'm thinking for a polo. There is also the tensioner pulleys which should have being checked/ changed as the case maybe. Quite often the plastic coating will have worn to an extent on these if not changed routinely that the timing belt will slip of them and it is the same effect as a timing belt snapping. I reckon in that condition whatever you get for the polo if you get any takers take it. Donedeal is suppose to be pretty good also
