    Has anyone done it? Have 2 dodgy batteries here and am tempted to buy some epsom salts and give this a lash.

    BTW I would use condensed water (and not rain water). It's about €5 for 5 litres in your local pharmacy or free if you use a condenser dryer at home :D

    De-ionised water is what you need. There could however probelms witht he cells in the battery. If you can get them tested with an electronic battery tester, this will be able to tell you if you are wasting your time or not.

    De-ionised water is what you need.

    Distilled (condensed) water is easier to get and purer than de-ionised water.

    this may work if the plates have become sulfated due to the battery being left discharged/unused.
    however if it is an internal problem with the battery not a hope.

    Yeah, quite true, but unfortunately I can't see into the cells themselves.
