Charging Problem

    Hi all,

I have a Dell M1330 laptop and it's not charging properly.

I bought a new battery a few months ago so that isn't the problem.

I have to play around with the connection for ages to get it to charge, then if the laptop is moved at all it stops charging.

Could this be the charger itself or is it the connection on the mobo?

I had a similar problem but with a different make of laptop.

It turned out to be a loose conneciton with the power brick. When the laptop moved the wire connecting to the brick (at the brick) moved and the led started blinking and woudn't charge. I had to play around for ages to get it in a position to charge.

Luckily I had a friend who was good with electronics so I got a free fix. This might be what your problem is. Are you still in warranty?

    Hey,

When u say power brick do you mean the power adapter itself or something on the motherboard?

I'm out of warranty but I can get a new charger for free if needed.

Sorry bout the confusion. I meant the actual adaptor itself. Nothing on or in the laptop at all. For me, it was the end of wire coming out of the adaptor heading to the laptop, that casued the problem. Seems like wear and tear caused it.

It shouldn't cost to much to repair but if it's handier to get a new charger that's fine.

I don't know if this helps but sounds very very close to the problem I had.

I had the exact same problem with my old Dell Inspiron on 2 separate occasions a couple of years apart.

It was still under warranty, so both times they just sent out a whole new adapter. This solved the problem both times.
