this is in the bargain alert forum too but I think it should be here too.

O2 are offering students broadband at €9.99 instead of the usual €19.99

This page shows the modem details. It's the E 1752

Just signed up for this, working grand. Very easy to sign up.
Pop into your local O2 store. You'll need to sign up for 12 months at 9.99 a month.(must pay direct debit) Modem is grand and accepts sd cards and costs a very reasonable 19.99 and that's all you pay. Just remember to bring student card, bank details, driving lisense/passport for I.D and proof of address, namingly utility bill.

ALSO at the mo you can borrow a modem (Try before you buy) for 72hrs at no charge. You have to pay a €75 security deposit but this is 100% fully refundable upon return, even if you decide not to keep it.( And I can personnally vouch for this)
I think it's a great idea as mobile broadband does not work everywhere even if the guy in store swears it will.
Most students can avail of this offer as it has been arranged by the HEI's. List available here http://www.o2online.ie/wps/wcm/connect/O2/Home/Explore+Services/Broadband/Mobile+Broadband/Student+Broadband/#Instit[/URL]
All details are available at O2.ie

By the way I'm not connected to O2 in any way I'm a poor old student just think it's a great offer and wanted to share the love.

How many students living at home would have a utility bill like an ESB bill?

Well obviously if your not the householder. Just tell them the broadband is for you(which it would be), bring your birth cert, anything you have with your name and address on(bank acc, cao, college etc) and get your parents to write a quick note to confirm you do live at that address, and bring your parents bill with you. It's only to prove your address.
Same as if you were signing up 4 a phone contract.
    Really is very simple.
