Season Tickets - The Way Forward?

Having used my season ticket 11 times this year and getting to an AI semi final (unexpectedly, I admit) I believe their trial has been a complete success.

Chatting with a few of the Kerry folk beside me at the match, their views were the same. The other point about the ticket is you have to have a 60% + attendance record to get your ticket for the final, should your team make it there:(, a point totally missed by the "one" fair weather fan in our pre match conversation group. (he wasn't one bit pleased having only seen 4 matches: Cork, Cork, Dublin & Meath.) All others had their quota well made.

So do you see this being rolled out further? I believe there were only 250 season tickets issued per county this year. Will it be 2500 this year? will existing season ticket holders get preference over new applicants?

On the issue of value I believe we did ok too, relativly speaking.

    What are others opinions?

The Season ticket sounds good and is a fair system for genuine fans who make the point of going to nearly if all of their counties intercounty games.

I like the season ticket Dublin operates.I am a member and it is a great incentive for fans to go and watch the club games in both codes and to go to all home league matches in the NFL and NHL.It is also a guarantee of tickets for every game in the championship.

I think its been great. As far as I know, season ticket holders will get the option to renew before the general sale. I don't think they will issue too many more as they still have to look after their sponsors etc for the all ireland and they are setting aside 500 tickets as it is... They may expand it slightly though...

    It's been a fantastic sucess!

I'm sick of people moaning coming into Finals that the "real" fans don't get tickets and the fair weather fans do.

I've already had someone ask me for tickets and asked them how many games they've been to this year- one was the response.

    GTFO man.

Well i have beento every Tipp game since and including the League final. Struggling to get a ticket now for the final. Explain how thats fair? I know people who have never been to GAA games before who managed to get tickets.

Why didn't you get a season ticket then?

60% of the games, with the league final and all the championship games all you would have had to make is maybe one or two other league games.

Which i did. I got my tickets through ticketmaster all year. It was a pleasure not having to go out to my club. Because i cant stand the sight of the place. Big GAA supporter, big county supporter, couldnt care less about the club for personal reasons.

    Only 250 season tickets apparently>?

250 Per county. It was only a trial this year, I'd say there'll be more on offer next year.

Interesting concept alright. Be a while before I can afford one though.

Club before county I always say.

I'm GAA supporter too. I go to all home games. All club games too. I didn't get the season ticket because it didn't suit, but I think its the way forward.

But as for the Connacht football final when I ask for tickets in Salthill (I was getting tickets for all club members too), we were giving the far ends of the stand. Season ticket holders got the middle seats. An error I hope the Connacht board will have a look at. I'll buy one next year all the same.

€75 for the ticket, covers your entry for all your counties league games, and the 1st round of the championship. There after you are automatically charged for every further championship match less €5 discont.

In effect I saved a few quid even though I missed 2 league matches
