I done that course before. Why??? Its a really good course, the lecturers down there are so sound. Two guys in particular who you will learn a lot from and will really go out of there way to help you in anyway, Ger Flanagan and Alan Kelly.

The course is perfect for young musicians and beginners. You will have modules such as: musicianship> Industry studies > Computer App > Sound Engineering(Terry Hackett, good lecturer, very helpful, good drummer) and you will have performance classes on Wednesdays. This is a good course for meeting your first band.

When I attended the college I maid some great people. I would def put this ahead of the BCFE course(across the road). Almost a must do for people who are serious about making a go at the music business. Good for a year out if your just finished your Leaving Certificate.

If you do go there tell Ger, Joe McCormack said hi :).

I did this course a good few years back and dropped out after 5 months. To be honest, I had the complete opposite experience to Joe. I thought the course was a pile of ****e. The one plus was the main lecturer, I can't seem to remember his name, possibly Ger. He was decent and I picked up a bit off him. The sound engineering lecturer (Terry I think) seemed ok but the set-up was ridiculous when I was there. There were 30+ students watching one guy mess around with software on the sole computer that was in the room. Thats not a good environment to learn IMO. As I said, I dropped out because I benefitted little if at all from doing this course. I heard good reports about the course in BCFE, however Joe, you seem to think that course wasn't as good as the Kylemore one. I would like to hear why?

I did it too. you get back what you put into it really. It isn't the fanciest of places but forget that, its about gaining experience and meeting people interested in what you do while getting to use the gear there! plus go for Ballyfermot College after as I did (which is easier coming from Kylemore) to keep getting more experience.

Do what you do and do it well
