Sky Sports News to be part of the Sports Pack or not?

    There was an extensive thread a few weeks ago on rival boards forum saying that SSN channel was going to be part of the Sky Sports Pack from 1st Sept 09. No sign yet though.Anyone know whats goin' on!

    I hadn't heard this was happening but it would deffo make sense IMO. I'd dump the "news mix" if this happened, cos what else is on it worth paying for? Sky News is FTA anyway. The cynic in me says thats exactly why SSN is in the news mix - so that people are "forced" into keeping that mix in their sub.

    Similarly, TCM movies is part of the Style and Culture mix - very bizzare.

    I think Eurosport, Eurosport 2 and ESPN Classics is worth the €2 extra a month.

    It used to be in the Variety mix and Sky changed it about a year ago, some threads about it here.

    It would really change the way SSN operates i'd say. They could show goals straight away and the like i'm guessin?

    What exactly is the "sports pack" anyway? Just though there was the option of SS1 or SS2, or both then with SS3 and SSXtra thrown in?

    I think Sky Sports News has just become viewable in the last hour or two if you subscribe just to Sky Sports and don't have the News and Events pack.

    SSN going into the Sports pack doesnt really make sense.
    Its a poor channel whose sole purpose is to serve as propaganda/advertising to encourage viewers to subscribe to Sky Sports .

    They better not do that. I watch SSN abit and couldnt be arsed getting the sports package.

    I think its still in the News and Events pack as well though. Should be FTV in my opinion.

    It should be shut down as it is not a sports news channel. It is a "look at what's coming up on sky sports" 24 hour advert. They should also cover sports that they dont show on their sports channels. That at least is what Setanta Sports News used to do.
