Will I lose the Unblock if I upgrade the firmware?

    I've done the Jailbreak because I needed it to do the Unblock.

    I don't really need any of the Apps that the Jailbreak gives me access to so, if I upgrade my firmware to 3.01 will my Unblock be reversed???

    Yes it will, you will need to rejailbreak just to unlock the phone- then you can hide Cydia.

    When you jailbreak the phone, it always installs Cydia - which is the main application for installing all the other apps (think of it as the app store of jailbroken apps) and it places an icon for it on your home screen. The unlocker app is not visible anywhere on your home screen though, so if you jailbreak, unlock and then hide Cydia, it'd be a bit tricky for most people to see that your phone is jailbroken and for all intents and purposes, it would behave exactly like a non-jailbroken phone.

    You do lose the jailbreak and unlock on every firmware update pretty much (or even if you need to restore the version you are using for some reason) so yes, you'll need to re-do it every time you want to update.

    There have been a few random reports but from what I gather it's extremely rare.

    There is a part of the jailbreak process that if you remove the iPhone or if there is a power cut, you are supposedly goosed. The last time I jailbroke an iPhone (which was over a year ago) the jailbreak software did warn you when you were going through that part of the process.

    that being said, i jailbroke an iPhone everytime I upgraded the firmware and never had any problems. Im not an IT whizz either. I just followed the instructions.
