I waited in James st this morning to be seen after being referred their by Doctor. I waited for over an hour, being asked to go get things from sections that were not my job and should have been done by the staff at hand. Even when I went to the said areas I was looked upon as if I had ten heads.

    Anyway...

After a fúcking hour and a half, the lady comes out and smiles and says hi guys look Dr xxx is in theatre dealing with inpatients and will be another 20 mins at least, why don't you go get a cup of tea...

Well fúck this I thought. I had already asked staff if they knew of a private operator because the service to date was 90% ridiculous, with the only good going to the professionalism actually shown when receiving original treatment. I said to her my appointment was for 9 and that I had things to do and could not be expected to just wait around like that. After all I am paying for a service. She said she knows, it's just the day that's in it... Bullshít. I emphasized to her that I knew it wasn't her fault but this carry on from the doctor was completely unnacceptable and I will be going elsewhere to get it done.

Why should he get paid for being so fúcking ignorant?
    [/rant]
Anyway not easily able to locate someone speacialising in ear/nose/throat. Can anyone here recommend anyone please?

there's a few there. by the way, one thing you should know about healthcare, if the unexpected turns up, it has to be dealt with, no matter how late it makes the day run. i doubt you'd be too happy if something happened to you during a procedure and instead of sorting it out, the surgeon looked at his watch and said 'feck, time's up, there's other people to deal with.'
doctors don't really care how late they run usually, it's all about the person they're dealing with there and then. you'll get the consideration that's due when it's your turn. going private doesn't really mean you'll be seen at the exact time either. but the admin should be better, and you'll probably get a cup of tea and a biscuit after any procedure you have done.
your own gp should be able to recommend someone anyway. if i were you, i'd make sure they've spent a while going up the chain of command in public hospitals first, they'd have seen alot more on their way.

Thanks for taking the time out to explain mate. The thing is my experience there over the years has by far been negative and the fact I had to go here and there and bits and pieces that should have already been obtained, along with the unhelpulness initially of those I went to collect said documents off, just really got to me. I have to take into consideration what you have outlined regarding doctor and do appreciate that now I suppose. Ignorance seems a little ott of an assumption on my part.

Having went private there before I 100% got seen to much quicker. Any other private operators I have been to have always been the same, no messing around.
I don't feel bad for leaving though, the service IS actually ridiculous.
