Tic-Toc, Ben Klock as the best record on Yoshi-Toshi almost went. Not long after that Chiapet masterpiece, Ben Klock released his first record and he's been DJing for much longer than that. With all the hype about Panorama Bar & Berghain, it's easy to forget that Ben has form and history. Releases through the years on WMF, BPitch Control, Memo and the Berghain-affiliated label Ostgut Ton have ensured Ben subscribes to the quality not quantity theory. In his DJ sets Ben Klock is aiming at creating an atmosphere that is based on a deep sound, accumulating over long phases into something euphoric in order to explode at the end: euphoria with a rough bass.

In his own words: "Even a party atmosphere where hands are up in the air should include a certain class and a deep undertone. My sound spectrum graps everything from dry and hearty minimal beats to a hard-opening rave orgasm. I like to combine old tracks - may it be Chicago, Detroit or European dance music - with new ones."

Ben's musical roots are manifold. As a kid he already started playing the piano and recorded his first studio sets on his keyboard. Later on he played in a rock band (vocals, guitar) and listened to a lot of different musical styles. What drives him most is to explore new sounds? "For me the electronic music movement and all the new sound worlds of the 90's were like a liberation after the musically rather superficial and poppy 80ies. The experience of the club culture in Berlin after the wall came down affected me very strongly."

Being a Berlin based DJ in the 90's, Ben Klock got known through his gigs at Tresor, WMF and Cookies. Since the opening of the legendary club Berghain he has since been a regular DJ and there finds the freedom to go for more rougher, harsher sounds. "Berghain is a place that perfectly keeps the idea of a big and excessive techno night and at the same time serves as a showcase for new things. I really like that club a lot and its not a secret anymore that Berlin has become the centre of the electronic music scene worldwide, I think."

One of the best DJ's and producers in the world right now, resident atone of the most exciting clubs, we are very excited to have him come rock the Shock. Support comes for the impeccable Barry Redsetta and the peccadillo ridden Giles Armstrong. Doors open at 10 and we strongly advise that you pick up a ticket from http://www.bodytonicmusic.com/store as it's going to be chicken oriental down there, innit mate!?

There's a gang of us heading in Colly if you wanna join us!

Ben Klock is a savage DJ, seen him twice since he last played in the TP last year and he rinsed it both times. One of my favourite DJs, and his productions are top notch too.

Man I'm pissed. Got in a bit late, 12.30, and they were not letting anyone in without tickets. Had the lady with me and she did not want to queue so headed home :(

got a text just now from a friend saying it was insanely packed and she left
    pity..

Was jammers alright, but menacing it was. What a belting set. I really hope it is recorded or at the least there is a tracklist out there.

With a bit of luck they'll throw it up as a podcast....

I imagine that they record most of the sets from the international DJs in the TP.

I almost went in to this without ticket. Maybe just as well....
I was looking at the the bodytonic website yesterday. Did they have rock bands playing upstairs?
Seems odd for a night with a high profile dj. Was this why it was so packed or were people just there to see Ben Klock?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 749 ✭✭✭SteveDon

Absolutely amazing better than last time. Was absolutely legless. Fantastic

Yes they seemed to have a rock band playing upstairs (The Dead Chickens!!!) but they were totally separate to the dance crowd downstairs. I'm sure the people were just there to see Ben Klock, there mustn't have been anyone else good in Dublin last nite cos the crowds were outrageous. I had to leave and i'm raging now cos VinylJunkie said the set was great. It was dangerously packed though.....bit scary.

Was it even possible to dance?

Thumbs down to the TP.... greed it seems was the cause. They know their capacity, and cant make any excuses.

It was brilliant, as Klock always is.

Yes is was very packed but yes it was possible to dance and YES the atmosphere as amazing, as was the music.
