Use Brand In Domain Name, legal or illegal?

    Hi guys,

    If i found that , say www.nike.com is not registered, then i register and use it, will it be legal or illegal?

    Legal. However there are usually rules in place such that it Nike forgot to renew their registration and you took it, they could take it back.

    You would need to demonstrate that you are using / have a right to the name.

    Depends,

    If you were the "National Irish Kite Encyclopidia" you might get away with claiming nike.com if you found it vacant.

    If however thought thought you were trying to sell sport shoes, the other "NIKE" would have a good cause to claim it back.
