Right I have the option to get a 3gs straight from apple I was told that it would be cheaper then getting one straight from o2.So would this mean i would have to put a bill pay sim card into it? or could i use it on a pay as you go simcard.

If it is an officially sanctioned unlocked phone then any sim can go in. The only thing is what is supported on the network.

Well I don't really care about moving to o2 but more about whether I could use it on pay as you go as i cant be bothered (nor can i afford) a bill pay contract.

You can get a free 3G pay as you go SIM from O2.

Will this defiantly work with the phone. I actually have an o2 sim card but I don't use it. It has a cool number too AFAIK

AFAIK any O2 SIM card should work. Just make sure you ask for a 3G one so you can access 3G services. When I bought my iPhone he just picked a SIM card off the shelf, there's no indication that it's iPhone-specific.
