Legacy of Kain is really the only one I would get, either played the rest before or couldnt give a damn.

I wouldn't get the oddworld games myself because I spent enough time beating them. Both great games and should be played by everyone especially if you really enjoyed flashback.

Um Jammer Lammy is the one I'll be getting. Always wanted to play it but couldn't find it in the shops when I eventually had disposable income.

I would consider Tomb Raider as well just to see how bad it has aged :) Tomb Raider 2 was a load of arse though.

Where's all the really good games that Japan is getting though! It would be a disgrace if it wasn't easy to download them. All we are getting is mostly throw away populist crap while japan is getting some excellent rarities.

Syphon Filter 2 I liked, not heard much to think the series got better afterwards..

Tomb Raider 1 is a classic but wasn't it remade a little while back on PS2?

Abe's Odyssey, nice one. Just need some pre-paid cards now. :)

I don't know most of the games on the list and those that I do don't really appeal to me.

Yep, and a fantastic remake it was too. Also available on the 360 with super duper graphics as DLC I think but only played the PS2 version.

A few of them are already on US PSN. Tomb raider 2 and bloody roar are.

Aye, got my Jap PSN account online today and browsed their PS1 range.....:eek::eek::eek::eek:....now thats a quality service. Alundra, Vagrant Story, Front Mission 1-3......I need to learn Japanese fast.

And Tomb raider 2 was ok, but not as landmark as 1. Best part was the venice levels for the music.

Two I want to see soon are Tombi and Suikoden, think of how much Sony would make from them.

There's a lot of games on the japanese store that you don't need japanese for. Einhander, G-Darius, Gunners Heaven, R-type Delta, Raystorm are just a small selection and anyone with the means to get them is stupid not to. The really annoying thing is the amount of RPGs and rare games up on the japanese PSN that haven't made it over here. With the release of FFVII on the American and Euro PSN it shows that there's no excuse and licensing problems. It's free money nearly and something like Suikoden 2 is going to get lapped up by the hardcore that can't justify 200+ stingers for it.

Tombi 1 and 2 is a great shout. Only played a bit of the first game but it's excellent and made by most of the ghouls n'ghosts team.

Tombi was published by Sony so here's hoping they have it in the wings waiting to come out soon,Konami should also do the same with Suikoden and Vandal hearts.

Sorry lads I'm not up to date on stuff and I just saw this on the front page but.... are these games getting re-released or remade  or is this just download via the PS3 stuff ?

Doesn't Tombi command an asking price of over 100 on ebay ?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 17,208 ✭✭✭✭aidan_walsh

Rereleased on the PS3 Store, much the same as classic games on the Wii.

Yeah it does. It got ignored when it first came out but now a lot of people are realising that it was a fantastic game.

    Hi all!

Just visiting from the XBOX forum.
There are some pretty sweet games listed there. I remember the Syphon Filter games were good fun and as for the Tomb Raiders - they might have aged so very badly but I still think they're great.

I always wanted to try Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain, after playing Soul Reaver, but could never find a copy so I'm nice and jealous of this news.

In related news, the PS3 Slim is now only €299... :pac:

    yeah Kain was quality

i take it you've noticed the parallels w/ it and Arkham. same developer too. in fact.. dare i say it - almost the same game
I always wanted to try Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain, after playing Soul Reaver

this reminds me it was Soul Reaver. i wanted to check out blood omen too, never did :(

I's love to see Tombi up there. Had that game as a child and I loved every moment of it. Even watching it on youtube brings back memories. I'd love to have that game again, but I misplaced it when I moved home at 10 years old :(

I never would have thought it would be so rare.

I want Tombi/Tomba on PSN. Any PSN store!

I won't pay over a €100 for that game on ebay.

Number 1 game I wish was on the PSN is Team Buddies for me, and since it was developed by Psygnosis (now SCE Liverpool) but published by Activision (no PS1 games out yet) and Midway (its....somewhere, think WBI own it now)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,324 ✭✭✭chrislad

I just want them to start releasing games, point black. We have crap compared to the other stores. Seriously, it's not like we're a small market (being Europe)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,283 ✭✭✭Glico Man

The link below shows just how little we get compared to the US and Japanese stores when it comes to classics

We are a smaller market then asia or America though. And Europe is a pain to develop for because we've so many languages, and people in France or Spain don't exactly play enough games to make it worth so much effort. That's our problem really!

Pandemonium was a great game at the time, I remember liking Bloody Roar and Legacy of Kain too

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 52,406 CMod ✭✭✭✭Retr0gamer

To be honest there's really nothing stopping anyone picking up the games from the US and Jap stores other than laziness.

Pandemonium is a load of crap nowadays.

And not having a credit card...

I don't trust myself enough to get one...

A 3V I have no problem with because when it's out it's out...

Darn myself for being untrustworthy when it comes to money

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 52,406 CMod ✭✭✭✭Retr0gamer

I haven't a credit card because I did trust myself when I ad one and it was a big mistake :) Doesn't stop me getting PSN points tough for the jap and US store since paypal take 3v and practically all ebay sellers take them.

Completely forgot that paypal accept 3v, will be off to the shops tomorrow or so to pick myself up a couple of quids worth, and downloading some content.

I tip my beenie hat to you Retr0gamer, cheers for the reminder...

Though I should really have thought of it myself considering that's how I bought stuff off ebay... :p

if these games had trophies I'd be all over abe's odyssey, um jammer lammy and legacy of kain but since I played the originals there's no reason to really go back as they stand now, I bought FF7 and gave up as soon as I got out of Midgar so I know I won't have the motivation to replay these titles.

Sony is really missing a trick by not adding trophies

I think it says more about yourself to be honest.

If you don't want to play the game without trophies than you don't want to play the game.

FFVII pretty much dies on it's ass once you reach the chocobo farm though.

TBH I couldn't give a toss about trophies, even less so than achievements on xbla. I'll still be having fun with um jammer lammy.

Dies when you get to the Chocobo farm? Hardly. It doesn't even come to life until after your first trip to Gold Saucer. I'm not one of these "FF7 is the Grail" people. In fact, I preferred both the characters, magic system and story of FF8, 9 and X!

Take those rose tinted specs off. Also golden saucer is **** for lots of reasons, number one being the music!

Not really rose tinted. Playing through it again at the moment. Just played through it about 18 months ago too.

That's why I said AFTER Golden Saucer. I can't stand the place, especially when you have to spend hours there for Chocobo breeding. *shudder*

Hey i enjoyed the Golden Saucer part ;), having said that, things really do pick up after that tho... Its pretty funny if you end up on a date with Barrett
