I just got NTL in and am trying to get online.
I can get everything to work except it will only give me Nat Type 2.
Does anynoe know if this can be fixed or if it's even a problem.
    Help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

How is NAT2 better for PSN ?

If you want NAT1 from NTL then you will need to run a ethernet cable directly from the NTL modem into the PS3 .
You will also have to set all network settings to automatic , i.p address etc etc . on your PS3
    BINGO - NAT 1

If you want to also keep using your Wireless modem say for your Laptop to get Internet connection then you will need to put a switch between your Modem and both the PS3 and Wirelass router , dont have to be an expensive switch, something around the €25 mark will suffice.

Setup will look something like this :

    NTL MODEM ----> SWITCH [
    >PS3 (on nat 1)

    Hope this Helps .

(p.s)Some dis-advantages of going NAT1 on the PS3 is you will not be able to stream music or video say from your Laptop to the PS3 wirelessly (e.g) "PS3MEDIASERVER"

Hi im currently with digiweb and could never switch from nat 3 in order to get fifa working online. I will be switching to ntl in the next few days and was wondering is it easy to set up nat 1/2 on ntl wireless?
    Thanks

As far as I know the best you will get wirelessly when using the NTL Modem and Wireless router (more than likely Netgear) is NAT Type 2 , thats when on the PS3 connected wireless and say a Laptop wireless all through the Netgear wireless router .

I am sure you could get the PS3 and Laptop on NAT1 but this could be extremly dangerous (especially for the Laptop) as you will basically be exposed to all the nasty virsus and malware on the Internet , with NAT1 you have no barrier of firewall between you and the Internet .

Why would i want my PS3 on NAT1 if its so dangerous ? , ,i hear you ask .

Well basically there is no known virus (yet) for the PS3 so no problem there , but as you are aware your Laptop would be well exposed .

The best option then is to have the best of both worlds ,
    PS3 on NAT1
Laptop on NAT 2 (and fire walled)

To do this is you can get your PS3 wired into a network switch and then from that switch you could also have the Wireless router attached .
This would mean you could get NAT1 directly from the Modem into the PS3 (via the switch) and the Wireless router will give NAT2 for your Laptop (which is also pluged into the switch) .

Basically the network switch would act like a splitter :
    1 leg into your ps3
1 leg into your Wireless router .

Also I found a wired connection 'v' a wireless connection into my PS3 is alot better , you get a more stable connection when on line gaming and have alot less LAG .
If you could get your PS3 close enough to the NTL modem to get a wired setup then you are away , seen NTL have not installed yet tell them where you want your Modem (close enough to your PS3 )

    Hope this Helps.
    M

Best for media sharing, invites to partys etc. Everyone else says NAT2 is the optimum for PS3 online.
