    Trouble code P1018

Intake manifold runner bank 2: lower limit not reached.

Engine Management light is on dash of Q7 and this is the explanation scanner is giving me.

I have no clue what it means so I would greatly appreciate if someone could shed a bit of light on it for me.

    Its a 3.0 ltr diesel 2006 model.

    Thanks.

Are you sure its not P0118? I cant find that particular code.

No its definitely P1018 but when I google the code it doesnt recognise it.

I think its a problem with regards the motor that opens and closes these flaps that control the air/fuel ratio.

When I ring audi they dont want to know as they obviously want me to bring it in so they can charge me a fortune!

If you cant afford to service the car, you probably shouldnt have bought it. In all honest, its only Audi who can help you...

Doesn't really sound like something you are going to fix yourself.

Also probably would be best to try Audiworld or Quatroworld if you are still afraid of the dealer.

...that's not entirely fair: 'service' is not the same as 'repair'. And, in light of some of the (appalling) quality issues on the Q7, it'd be more likely be Audi's, rather than the OP's fault......

....I rest my case - when you see 'rust' mentioned in a TB from a mfr, on something this recent, you know it's going to end in tears.

I mean, does no-one, anyone, not test anything before putting it on sale anymore.....??

    Appalling quality issues?

Seems like a bit of an overstatement. From my experience the quality has been good and any problems that have occurred have been dealt with quickly and easily.

agreed, and things change in peoples lives. Like for instance, when the OP bought his Q7, it may have been in the boom and now with the recession, spending habits are totally different. He may need to try and fix it personally.
Hope you get it sorted OP.:)

Not necessarily. On a hundred thousand euro car with a sophistocated engine as audis have, unless you really know what you are doing. I would not suggest going digging around for a cheap solution.

..indeed, I know someone who's had HUGE problems. Like, multiple gearboxes (changed, not repaired !)

Oh, and 1 engine, as well ! !

Yep, I don't think any of that ilk will ever live long enough to qualify for the next scrappage scheme...in 10, let alone 20, years.......:(

P.S. not confined to Audi, btw...........

Well have had 2 Q7s, and friend have 1, with no problems.

Having been on Audiworld since 2006, I can say that the problems encountered by people are only a small proportion of the cars sold.

There are going to be reliability issues with any car line.

Can I ask the question OP - what sequence of events are you looking for exactly?
What do you expect Audi to do when you call them?
How do you expect them to fix it if you don't bring it in?
