Does anyone have any advice on the best bait/methods to catch some decent pollock. Boat fishing around Dalkey. Any tips would be appreciated.

I dive around there all the time and there are plenty of pollack around. Try spinning some sand eels or a jelly worm along the bottom. You're going to lose some gear but might just get into some of the bigger fish - we always see bigger ones the deeper we go.

gilling boom, 7-12' length of line 3/0 long shank hook.ragworm

drop to the bottom, wind a few turns up. wait about 10 seconds, and start reeling dead slow, keep reeling dead slow the whole way up. when you feel something start plucking at your bait, KEEP REELING SLOWLY. dont strike. keep it dead steady.

    congrats, you just caught pollock.
