NCT Wait Time

Is there still as long a wait for the NCT test as there was two or three months ago? Car isn't due 'til December but ideally want to get it done some time in November to avoid any delays getting parts etc. around Christmas. I heard the wait time was up to three months around June, anyone know if this is still the case now?

Also, how long before the test is due can I book in the car using the website? When I try to do it now, it asks me to call them (though it does say on the website that cars can now be booked in up to 19 weeks before the test). I can ring them, but would much rather look at times and dates available on the website at my leisure, and there is no real rush with it at the moment.

    Thanks.

So it seems. My earliest, booked a few weeks ago, is for November. However, if you ring them and tell them you are available for cancellations it could be quicker. Earliest on website is 19 weeks or so they told me. IIRC you have to give them your mobile number to make yourself available for a cancellation. The day I booked there was a one for that day.

Booked mine 2 weeks ago (car imported from North) for Clondalkin or Naas, earliest date was 2nd week of December and even with that, little choice.

Don't think situation has improved too much!!

Yep, situation hasn't improved much! Rang them there and was given a date (again with little choice) for the second week in December (in Limerick). Hopefully will get a cancellation before then, but it's a long wait time alright.

I booked mine in Limerick 2 weeks ago for this Saturday even though it is not due until next February. There were plenty of other free slots on the following week at the time too.

I booked mine two weeks ago and got it for the first week in December. I'm happy though, it gives me more time to sort out the few little problems.

If the car is due it's first NCT then it can be booked 6 months in advance of the due date. The cert will then be valid for two years, 6 months.

If the car is due it's second or subsequent NCT then it can be booked 3 months in advance of the due date. The cert will then be valid for two years, 3 months.
