I'd personally go with Joomla , but how it actually "looks" dpends on your programming and design abilities.

    Joomla versus NVU?
I wouldn't really compare the two. One is as wysiwyg editing environment (admittedly for websites) and the other is a content management system. One you would use to develop a website (NVU), the other is a website you would add content too (Joomla). Unless you know something about webdesign I would go with the CMS .. Joomla or another very popular CMS drupal.
As sposs says though you do need some design ability to create something that looks good and really does what you want. But a CMS like joomla & drupal with some good templates (many are free) is a good start.

PS, I thought NVU was no longer being maintained and the community fork Kompozer was the way forward?

It's also known for it's security flaws, have none of a few sites using Joomla that have been compromised... Drupal would be a much better option
Only if the core and components not kept uptodate. I have had one website compromised but that was because it was 2 sub versions out of date. I much prefer Joomla over Drupal.

I would use Joomla - very easy to use and get up and running quickly. If you haven't installed Joomla yet on your pc/laptop, I would suggest you install XAMPP, which instantly installs PHP & mySQL, both core components required for Joomla to function.

Yes, Joomla requires a bit of design skill, but it is fun and easy to learn these skills as you progress.
