Honestly, I like his picks a lot. Memories of Murder really is a staggeringly good film, I would quite possibly one of the greatest serial killer films ever made. I've always thought Unbreakable was Shyamalan's best film by far, and was severely underrated. I'm quite suprised he didn't pick Oldboy, considering how much he raved about it before. Otherwise, a fairly solid list.

team america and shaun of the dead are suprising.

Yeah, Memories of Murder is incredible. Easily one of my favourite Korean films.

Glad he went for Unbreakable over say The Sixth Sense. Despite popular opinion, Ive always preferred Unbreakabe.
I was expecting Ichi the Killer to be on the list, but I can see why he went for Audition.

Surprised at how highly people rate Memories of Murder, I thought it was a distinctly average film. Not bad by any means, but nothing great.

Anything Else? The Woody Allen one?! What a bizzare choice.

Battle Royale was very meh compared to the manga, I saw some of it but switched, but at least he picked Fight Club and The Matrix. I would have thought he'd have liked American Psycho. SoD and TA were great films, although the latter kinda sags in the middle but the concept was innovative in the way they used it.

I like the mans taste in movies :D Remember watching unbreakable when I was younger and not understanding why so few watch it. Shyamalangadingdong hasn't actually made a movie nearly as good since then.A sequel is in the making according to imdb.
Will have to get around to seeing audition too.

Memories of Murder, straight on the watch list.

    Unbreakable over the sixth sense??

What's most interesting about this list is tht it doesn't include movies that he has been 'influenced' by...

    Where's Lung Fu Fong Wan??

Good list. I've never heard of Memories of Murder though so I'll have to give it a watch some time. I was surprised to see Shaun of the Dead and Fridays on the list. I love both films personally but would have never expected them on Tarantino's top 20 list. I have to agree that Unbreakable is a fantastic film and I've never quite understood why it was so forgotten amongst M.Nights other lesser films.

I quite like the list. No snobbery in it. Just some great entertaining films. He's right about Speed as well. It's more or less forgotten how impactful that film was at the time. I do truly love Unbrekable. The acting, the music, the atmosphere. All excellent. Battle Royale is an overlooked favourite too.

I'll certainly take heed of some of the titles I'm not familiar with from the list.

I like that Friday is in there, it remains a really great comedy even after all these years. It makes more sense now that he cast two of its cast members in Jackie Brown. Shame about the sequels though.

Not if you've seen it. It's a really good film, one of Woody Allen's best. I'm amazed it doesn't get more praise.

I saw it when it was released and enjoyed it, but even as one of the first Woody Allen films I watched it was trying a little too hard to emulate his classics. Decent film and all, but it wouldn't stand out to me as a highlight of the last two decades! I'd have to watch it again though, I wasn't anywhere near as familiar with his stuff as I am now.

I stand corrected... Do go back and watch it sometime though. I watched it only recently while watching a bunch of Woody Allen films that had slipped through the cracks and, as I said, loved it.
